Our News : March 2026
We are delighted to announce that Art Trope Gallery is participating in the next 2026 edition of Lille ArtUp! in Lille, France, located at Lille Grand Palais from March 12 to 15, 2026.
Opening reception: Wednesday, March 11, 2026, from 5 pm to 10 pm, by invitation only
For this edition, Art Trope Gallery, under the curatorial direction of Virginie Tison, presents a dialogue between 5 contemporary artists at booth F06, focusing on the exploration of inner, urban, symbolic, and emotional spaces : Jean-Michel Cordier, Rodolfo Franchi, Jacqueline H-Botquelen, Lau Vago and Jean-Claude Bertrand.
Jean-Michel Cordier conceives painting as an instinctive language, a space of tension between what drives him internally and his perception of reality. His work is permeated by a quest: that authenticity of gesture, sensory memory, and pictorial vibration.
Each work becomes a place of exploration, a raw territory where the body expresses itself before the mind. For Jean-Michel Cordier, painting is a vital act, a way of inhabiting the world with sincerity, strength, and openness.
The uniqueness of Rodolfo Franchi is underlined by his ability to enhance and even divert everyday objects and circumstances from their original function, to put a frame on an existing place, to open a window where there is none. Cicero’s quote “The eyes are the mirror of the soul” fits perfectly with the work of this photographer, who suggests that the beginning of a successful image is a combination of aestheticism, graphic rigour and the right lighting.
Through her Art, Jacqueline H-Botquelen acts as an archaeologist of the human psyche, her creations seem to have been unearthed or recovered from some distant place in the artist’s unconscious. Each work of art has had a life of its own, transcended by the artist’s research into the mediums used. Jacqueline H-Botquelen achieves a suspended time in reference to our memories.
Lau Vago develops an abstract pictorial practice in which matter, color, and gesture become the vectors of a sensitive exploration of inner life. Her work draws on both intuition and mastery, creating compositions where fragility and power, chaos and harmony coexist. Her works explore emotional memory, states of transition, intimate wounds, and bursts of joy.
Through his work, Jean Claude Bertrand offers a visual exploration of the senses, memory, and our relationship with living things. His painting awakens an awareness of the world through light, matter, rhythms, sounds, smells, and even flavors.
The painter questions notions of temporality, perception, and transmission. Each work thus constitutes a space for projection, resonance, and presence.
Combining these five artistic worlds, Art Trope Gallery offers an immersive journey where painting and photography engage in dialogue.
